The Bishop-elect, Msgr. Stude to those who personally know him, was born in San Rafael, Bulacan of the Diocese of Malolos on October 30, 1957. He finished his secondary course at the Guadalupe Minor Seminary in Makati City and took Philosophy and Theology at San Carlos Seminary in the same city. He was ordained priest for the Archdocese of Manila on September 10, 1983.
For several years he served as Parochial Vicar at the Immaculate Conception Parish, at the Manila Cathedral, as Chaplain of the Pasig Catholic College from 1983 to 1986 and as Parish Priest of Maybunga in Pasig for one year.
He pursued further studies at the Gregorian Pontifical University in Rome from 1987 to 1990 obtaining a licentiate degree in Curch History. Upon his return to the Philippines he served as Dean and professor teaching History of the Church at San Carlos Seminary from1990 to 1997.
He was conferred with honor as Papal Chaplain in 1997 and was sent back to Rome to be a member of the administration of the Pontificio Collegio Filippino where he eventually became the Rector beginning year 2000. While as Rector he was also designated as the National Coordinator of the Conferenza Episcopale Italiana for the pastoral care of Filipino migrants in Italy and a member of the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses.
The Episcopal Consecration will be held at the Manila Cathedral on June 24, 2010, 9:00 a.m., while the Installation will be on July 8, 2010, 9:00 a.m. at the Balanga Cathedral.
