Telephone to open gate and lobby glass door

Set-up

The gate intercom (“citofono”) is connected to the telephone system, and is assigned local number 115. This way, the small pedestrian gate, the big vehicular gate, and the lobby glass door can be opened from any PCF telephone extension, even from individual rooms.

Incoming landline phone calls, and the gate intercom, are directed to the Portineria fax machine and the cordless phones, which are assigned local 401.

The black and gray cordless phones’ base stations are in the first floor, in front of the Oratory, so they would reach practically the whole building. The refectory also has a cordless phone, for use especially during meals, when visitors and mail may arrive. Another cordless phone, with a base with speaker, is in the Kitchen.

If the Porter leaves the lobby area (when in another assignment, and after work hours):

  • The Porter advises the Sisters of his absence; then, either the Sisters take over, or the Porter brings the cordless phone to the Sisters.
  • But during the Sister’s prayer time, the Porter leaves the cordless at the Sisters’ refectory.

When Phone rings:

  1. Lift receiver, and talk with the person at the gate. You may say that you will also open the glass door, so he or she could enter the building directly without having to sound the buzzer or wait for you.
  2. Press any of the following numbers:
  • 2 = open small gate (pedestrian)
  • 4 = open big gate (cars)
  • 3 = open lobby glass door (press this too)

Without the Phone Ringing:

(for example, you see a familiar person at the gate, or someone calls by cel asking you to open the gate):

  1. Dial 115, and talk with the person at the gate.
