FAITH AND PRAYER IN ILLNESS: ROAD TO HEALING

on Friday December 6, 2019, at 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. (Manila time)

with Fr. Gregory Ramon Gaston, S.Th.D., Cecilia Jimeno MD (reactor) and Jose Paciano Baltazar Reyes MD (moderator), organized by the University of the Philippines College of Medicine Batch 1990 (Manila), with Collegio Filippino (Rome) and Friends of the Collegio (Washington State). Registration is free, with CPD and CME credits available.

We are called to enlarge the horizons of our hearts, to be surprised by the life that is presented each day with its newness. In order to do this we need to learn to not depend on our own securities, our own established plans, because the Lord comes in the hour which we don’t imagine.” -Pope Francis, Advent 2019

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • To understand the spiritual dimension of illness.
  • To deepen one’s faith in the midst of suffering.
  • To discern the power of prayer in healing.

The speaker, Fr. Greg, is Rector of the Collegio Filippino, the “Home in Rome” for Filipino priests doing further studies.

When the priests return after two to four years, they are assigned to the seminaries and other special ministries, including health-related apostolates such as hospital chaplaincies, bioethics committees, orphanages, feeding programs, drug rehabilitation, care for abandoned children and elderly, and so on.

For this reason, supporting the Collegio is a concrete way of helping our country. In need of particular assistance at present is the Collegio Library, hopefully soon to be renovated with your help. It will focus on Filipiniana books and journals, especially when it comes to Philippine religiosity and related themes, such as culture, history, and society as a whole. (For details on the Collegio, please visit  www.friendsofthecollegio.org.)
