1. Collegio Filippino Priests Invited by Filipino Communities

When invited to celebrate in a Filipino community:
  • Kindly ask who the Filipino chaplain in charge of the diocese is (or if none, the local diocese’s person in charge of migrants).
  • Call or at least send a text message to the chaplain (or migrants in charge) informing him of the invitation.
  • In the email to the PCF Admin indicating your dates, whereabouts, and contact person, kindly include at the end:
“I have informed via SMS/call the Filipino Chaplain [or migrants in charge] assigned by the diocese, Fr. [NAME].”
Reasons for the above include:
  • Courtesy not only to the chaplain but also to the bishop himself who appointed the chaplain. In Rome, the chaplain is appointed by the Pope himself through his Vicar.
  • Builds stronger bonds between our Filipino communities and the local Church.
  • Assures the local Church that Filipinos are aware that migrants are the primary responsibility of the local bishop, and not of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
In the Catholic Church, there is no figure of supra-diocesan organizations exempt from the jurisdiction and responsibility of the local bishop whenever they act in a diocese.
  • Any national or international chaplain or coordinator of any Church organization has all the more reason to be united with the local Church rather than disregard those in charge of migrants there.
